Salim, the son of Emperor Akbar, the ruler of India, falls in love with Anarkali, a courtesan. The Emperor does not like this and decides to separate them. When Akbar's pressure gets too much for Anarkali, Salim declares war on his father but he loses the battle. Akbar sentences Salim to death...
