|a First published in Marietta, Georgia, in November 1887, Woman's Work billed itself as a monthly magazine 'edited by women and for women.' The household periodical's first editor-in-chief was Mrs. E. R. Tennet, but by spring 1888, the magazine published out of Athens, Georgia with Mrs. Kate Garland at the editorial helm. Mr. T. L. Mitchell, an Athens publisher and printer, was proprietor of Woman's Work, but the content was produced by the women on staff. An issue of Woman's Work, which first carried a fifty cent subscription rate before going up to a dollar in 1907, contained literature, art, women's health notes, gardening advice, and departments dedicated to mothers and children. From 1888 until the magazine ceased publication in 1915, Kate Garland served as editor-in-chief, and T. L. Mitchell maintained his role as owner and publisher.
